LOVE IS UNIVERSAL

The desert, in all its pastel perfection has always captivated me. There’s something about the pale, yet rich and earthy hues that strike a chord within.

A few years ago I discovered some images of the most magical colourful art installation in the desert and I knew I had to see it in person. It did not disappoint. The monumental explosion of colour sprawled across the surreal rolling hills, paired with the simple, yet powerful message that resonates deeply - Love is Universal.

Inspired and invigorated with a renewed sense of creative energy, and awed by the desert landscape my works for the ‘Love Is Universal’ series began to take shape.

The juxtaposition of the soft and subtle pale peach tones of the desert horizon, and the harsh gritty landscape directly and consciously inspired the techniques implored. The slow and steady build up of colour. The quick, concise and deliberate etching marks made to reveal the colour beneath. All play homage to the golden landscape.
